YOUNG FATHERS

From a few years British hip-hop develops very quickly, it has its great stars, but it also has bands that work on the border of genres and have the ability to influence the shape of the entire scene. With no doubts Young Fathers are this kind of band. The band was formed in Edinburgh a decade ago. At first it was a concert project of teenagers fascinated with hip-hop. After a few years of reaching underground fame Young fathers signed a contract with American Anticon, label specialising in finding hip-hop novelties. Two first Young Fathers’ mixtapes were released by Anticon. Not quite original titles – “Tape One” and “Tape Two” – cover inside a very original sound, a little bit aboriginal, dirty, minimalistic but very melodic. “Tape Two” was Scottish album of the year, but it’s nothing when it comes to the debut album “Dead” from 2014, that won Mercury Music Prize – the most prestigious music award in the Great Britain. Today Young Fathers work on their third album. “cocoa Sugar” premiere is planned on march 9^th. Will the album sound be influenced by the collaboration and point concerts with massive Attack? We’ll see in a few weeks.
