Island has a great year! Their football team qualified for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and Kaleo was nominated for Grammy Award! It’s another success in the history of Islandic music, which should not be judged in the context of the queen Björk and Sigur Ròs. The band was established in Mosfellsbær in 2012 and just from the start it performed at very important event in Reykjavík - Iceland Airwaves. Their music is a combination of rock, folk and blues. In 2014 the song “All the Pretty Girls” was streamed almost 90 million times on Spotify. In 2015 after signing a record contract, Kaleo moved to the United States, to the sunny Austin in Texas. There their career blossomed. In the Summer, they released a single “Way Down We Go”, which became an international hit, used in games, TV series and ads. The song also announced the album “A/B” released in 2016, which was sold in almost million copies around the world. The album’s opening song “No Good” brought the band a nomination for Grammy for “Best Rock Performance”. On January 28, Kaleo may come up on the Madison Square Garden stage to accept the statuette, and we’re waiting patiently for the July 6 at Open’er.
